La Guardia Civil hace referencia a un estudio publicado en 2013 por el Servicio de Protección de la Naturaleza (Seprona). En este estudio se llega a la conclusión de que el 50,8% de los perros robados son galgos, 328 denuncias hacían referencia a galgos, de un total de 645 denuncias.
Detrás de estos datos se encuentran muchas mafias que se dedican a robar galgos y perros de caza para posteriormente venderlos. En el caso de que no valgan para cazar o no consigan venderlos los abandonan o incluso los matan.
Como todos los años el bulo de que los cazadores maltratamos a nuestros perros es constante pero una vez más se vuelve a desmentir con solidas pruebas. En este caso fue la Guardia Civil con un tuit en el que ponen al descubierto estos delitos y mentiras.
